We are the alumni association of Bundesgymnasium Wien 8 ("Piaristengymnasium"), one of the most traditional secondary schools in Vienna.

Our school was founded in 1701 as private secondary school by members of the Piarist order and is located in the very heart of Vienna's 8th district. The aim was to provide affordable education for young stundents regardless of their social background. In 1731 the earl of Löwenburg bequeathed all of his fortune to the Piarist order to establish a boarding school to educate the children of aristocrates of the Austro-Hungarian empire. In the 18th century the increased requirements for a contemporary education of young students lead into rising costs for school operations. Therefore in 1870 the two Piarist secondary schools, operated in Vienna and Krems, were integrated into the public school system. However, two primary schools and one nursery are still operated by the Piarist order in Vienna today.

Carl Mozart (the son of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and founder of the Mozarteum society) and Anton Wildgans (Austrian writer) are two of the most famous students, which attended Piaristengymnasium in Vienna.

There is a long tradition of alumni associations at our school. The association as it exists today was reestablished after World War II in 1951 at the celebrations of the 250 year existence of Piaristengymnasium by the former school principal Dr. Werner Tschulik.

At the moment our association has about 2.000 members. We organize several events and meetings during the year such as the general assembly, lectures or sports tournaments. Regulary we are sending online and printed newsletters to all our members to inform them about the activities of our associations, news about our members and our school.
